Is infrared thermometer harmful to human body? Expert response

Submitted by • July 16, 2020

"The infrared thermometer working principle is to focus the infrared thermal radiation of the human body on the detector. The detector will convert the radiated power into an electrical signal. The electrical signal is displayed in temperature units after being compensated for the ambient temperature.
Infrared thermometers do not emit infrared rays to the human body but receive infrared heat radiation from the human body, so there is no harm to the eyes and the body."
